The Polar Express and a Walk through the North Pole!
The Polar Express Sponsored by:  Julius W. Hegeler II Foundation
A Walk through the North Pole Sponsored by:  Danville Metal Stamping, Inc.

Join us as we recreate the magical journey made famous in author Chris Van Allsburg’s book “The Polar Express”.  Children begin their journey of make believe as they board the “Polar Express” (school buses) where they will meet their conductor and receive their golden ticket.  Carols will be sung in anticipation of their arrival at the Festival of Trees and the “North Pole.”  The book, “Polar Express” will be read by Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer during a 20 minute presentation.  This will be similar to the past Polar Express presentations for which families purchased tickets – with each student receiving the first gift of Christmas (silver bell) from Santa Claus at the conclusion.  There will be a shortened “Walk through the North Pole” during which the students will get to see many of the trees, the Book Tree, the Gingerbread Villages, and have a stop at the Bakery for a quick taste of Christmas!

  • This will be a free event for all students in Kindergarten and First Grade visiting the Festival as part of a school field trip. It will be scheduled for just two days – Tuesday and Wednesday, November 14th and 15th.  However, during that time our goal is to facilitate the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas for more than 2500 children.
  • Another performance will take place on stage during the Family Pajama Party, Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m.

Bob Richard, Mary Shutt, Cheryl Clapp and Julie Ronto, Co-Chairs
